EGYPT The band Egypt were Alan Fish (the Groundhogs) on bass, Ryka supplied the vocals, Gibraltan musicians Eric the Bastard on lead guitars and drummer Peter Chichon. Egypt went on to play many venues in the UK and across Europe and the Middle East.Ryka left the band in the early nineties to pursue his own solo career and in 1997 released a showcase album with songwriting duo Nick Jefferson and Alistar Nicholson in a project called Sine on Minority One records. The album was produced by and featured Mike Westergaard from the Blessing.Drummer Peter Chichin returned to Gibraltar and Pete Correa joined the band to record their second album Preserving the Dead, this time with Eric supplying vocals. Musically the style has moved to a more blues rock feel and features the Groundhog track Eccentic Man.Egypt are still playing to this day mostly in their own area of Norfolk and in between gigs Eric and Pete are the backing band for The Groundhogs with Tony McPhee.
